When they cut the cat out they may have damaged the wiring that goes to your fuel pump. When you turn the key on (not cranking) you should hear the fuel pump turn on for 1/2 second. That is the prime sequence. If you don't hear the pump run, check around where they cut out the cat.Chances are you will find cut wires. Any car/truck will run without a cat..but it will be loud!

SOURCE: We took our pick-up to the local Ford Dealership

after thinking your problem over I feel that you have a bad OX sensor. please don't ever go to that ford dealer again and don't waste money  on catalitic converters you don't need.  When was the last time you had a simple tune-up with filter changes?  Try that first.

SOURCE: diesel ford will crank but wont start acts like

If you have the 6.0 ltr diesel, then check the bowl where the 2nd fuel filter is, see if there is fuel in the bowl, if not then either your fuel pump which is on the frame under the driver's side in the water seperator/ heater has gone bad, or your filters could be bad, or the fuse to the fuel pump or the pump shut off switch which is located on the side panel at your feet on the passengers side, there is a reset button, make sure it has not popped and press it down, hopefully this helps, I had the same prob.

Catalytic converters stolen how to reset computer

Well its hard to diagnose with the little info given. Did you replace the catalytic converter with a new one, an aftermarket one, or just weld straight pipe instead? But in order to totally reset the ECU/PCU, or any controller for that matter, you disconnect the negative cable on the battery for several minutes and turn the ignition switch to the on position, then off, then on, ect a few times to discharge any remaining electricity that may be stored in the controllers. This will reset all data stored in the controllers, which will then reset all of your sensors. Some controllers may have to be further programmed through software by OBDII connection.

My 2005 Chevy Tahoe 4.8. lt cranks up just fine, but when I touch the gas it shuts off!

Question edited for clarity and spelling. No Cadillacs in the exhaust!
Question moved from Cadillac Cars to Chevy Tahoe.

Yes of course. Those sensors meter the flow of gas to the engine. With no data coming back to the Engine Control Unit, the car shuts off. You need to replace the Catalytic converters and replace both upstream and downstream sensors. Get down the Scrap Yard and see if you can find yours!

What causes a jeep to be a gross polluter

Bad catalytic converter, Bad oxygen sensor, Way out of time or injectors leaking. Cam position and crank position sensors bad. A bad MAP sensor will send too much fuel to the engine and the catalytic converter can't remove the pollutants. Be careful, the converter can get so hot that there will be a fire danger.

What should i try next my truck quit on me and now we have replace the fuel pump and filter it run but rough so i changed out the plugs and now it will crank but wont stay running it is running and 40

You might want to remove the o2 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter and see if it will run. If it does you have a plugged catalytic converter or muffler. You can also try manually spraying gas into the throttle body and see if it stays running and if so you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator. You will also need to check the pickup wire in the dist to make sure you are getting fire or enough fire to the plugs. You can check for this by putting a tester in the spark plug wire and the other end on a spark plugs if you have a spark tester. Hope this helps.

Removing catalytic converter in 2001 buick lasebre

I didn't know Texas was exempt from federal law? Federal emissions law requires the vehicles tailpipe emissions system to be intact and in working order in order for the vehicle to be licensed for on road use. If the catalytic converter was removed and you didn't tell the buyer, the buyer can hold you responsible for all costs to repair the catalytic converter. Removing the cat will also cause a never ending check engine light do to the wrong downstream O2 sensor readings. You are better off replacing the catalytic converter with either an o.e. or a quality aftermarket unit.

Replace muffler, not the catalytic converter which started to rattle. Stop running, will crank but will not start. can it be the catalytic converter.

if the converter is rattlin then it needs to be replaced because the element inside is broken. if the jeep still does not run try removing the catalytic converter to see if the restriction is too much. should start if the converter is restricted. if it doesnt maybe its whatever caused the converter to go bad in the first place

Order the catalytic converter for that make and model and you will get the right size, assuming that the installation was done at the factory and has not been modified.
