SOURCE: 85 monte carlo just rebuilt th700 trans changed

Without more information about your engine - Mileage etc. I will venture two things
One change the timing try more advance and less advance and also check the filter - and also the moisture in the fuel if any.
Second - Be sure the carburetor is still large enough to feed the engine enough fuel under pressure. This is if you built the engine to use more fuel.

Last - - check for vacuum leaks from engine and also from engine to transmission

?2005 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor starts

I would but imagine that since it goes into reverse, the shift lever is connected to the transmission. Makes sense. But won't go into forward gears with the selector/shift lever. Your either very low on trans fluid or you've burned the clutch packs out from being low on trans fluid. Only makes sense.

V70 poured new Dex3 auto trans in. Reverse gear stops working after a few days equal 500km, but all forward are still ok.

Sounds like your transmission is going bad. If your transmission is slipping only in drive or forward gears, then it could be just that it is low on fluid, but when reverse starts to slip it usually means rebuild/replace transmission.

Good luck

Auto Transmission 2000 Rodeo

It seems that the trans is slipping. The smell is from excess trans flood. If Trans is over filled, it can rupture seals and cause leaking that can get on the exhaust and burn.

Automatic transmission problem

Your vehicle should have the A4LD trans. Some of those small Bronco's had C-5....3 speed, lockup trans in them.If yours is indeed the O.Drive trans,4th gear in that trans is totally mechanical and hydraulic control. The only electricals in that year trans is lockup apply inside the torque convertor, and that happens after the 3-4 upshift.Later version DID have a solenoid for 4th gear.4th gear consists of the Forward clutch pack applied, and the front band,or O.D. band. This band is applied with a servo piston. It is a steel core piston with a pin and a rubber bonded covering with molded in lip seals. These servos are known for the rubber hardening, and no longer applying the band.Sometimes the band gets burnt to the point of no good, but installing a new piston is possible without removing the trans.Other than the servo piston,or without checking the valves in the valvebody, pretty much the trans would have to come out and be inspected.Good luck.j
