I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. This morning, I put the key into the on position and the electronics (radio, ect..) turned on like normal. When I turned the key to turn on the Engine everything died. Afterwords, the electronics weren't on either. Under the hood was a strange clicking sound from the fuse box and when I lifted it up the car alarm went off, after I turned off the alarm, the clicking stopped. The connection to the battery is also pretty corroded and needs to be replaced. I had a friend Jump the car with me and it turned on just fine. I drove it to work, and left it idleing for about a half hour. I then went to turn it off and when I tried turning it back on, it was dead again.
Any Suggestions, I'm kind of at a loss? Could it be the battery connection is so corroded that the alternator is not charging the battery while it's running or something?
