Could be a few things. You could try cleaning your throttle body really good. Sometimes it gets the little air passages dirty and will cause this. Does it come up with a check engine light on? If not and cleaning the throttle body doesn't fix it then I would try the throttle position sensor. Should be around 35 to 50 dollars. Sometimes you can tap on this sensor with a screwdriver and if it changes the rpm and makes it start acting up when working fine or makes it start acting normal when acting up then that is the sensor. Next i would change the IAC sensor. Good luck.

Have an fx45.Should the tach read 25-3000 ROMs when moving at 75mph? Auto tranny seems like it should be in higher gear.

there is not info to be able to give a definite answer
to work it out
you have top know the diff ratio, wheel tyre circumference to be able to work from rpms of the engine to road speed
However as a pointer, most cars will be around 3200 rpms at 60mph as this will be direct drive and od causes a drop in rpms
Being an automatic find yourself a good section of low traffic road and start from stop slowly increase the rpms and watch the rpms. keeping the accelerator steady you will see when the auto changes by a drop in rpms. slowly increase road sped until you see the next drop in rpms and so on. Over drive normally comes in around 55 mph or around 3000rpms
I would think that it is working because 3500rpms at 75mph is reasonable rpms to be expected. If it wasn't working I would expect the rpms to be around 3800 to 4000.at 75mph
tip

Keep the RPMs Low to get home without a Tow($80-$120)....

Hello all, from what I am finding on my problem:engine cuts out for no reason when it reaches operating temp-- there are other people with this similar issue with their car engines just stalling out while driving down the road. If this is your car and you can start it after it cools down with a little time (30-45min.) I have found that if I kept the RPMs to 1000-1200 or 20-25 mph I was able to "crawl" home (and this was going over 40ft brigde too) without stalling and did not need a tow truck ($80-$100). Hope this helps when it happens. BTW I am only putting this tip here, if you are online elsewhere pass this on. Also I will have follow up for you if it was the ignition module after all.

The rpms are going up and down and if u try and drive it dies

Hi!
The main reason for RPM going up and down is due to worn out clutch plates.
But firstly check the clutch Pressure plate (diaphragm).

First off i have a 1990 rs v6 camaro tuneport.ill begain with how it all started, i ran the battery down, then for some reason i had to replace a jumper in the security system, and it all went down hill...

try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, press the brake pedal with the battery disconnected. after 5 minutes reconnect the battery and start the car, DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE/ gas pedal for about 5 minutes. perhaps this will recalibrate the computer. good luck, hope this helps
