2006 Chrysler 300M 5.7 Hemi, all of a sudden the oil pressure has dropped to "0" when in idle or at a stop sign, and the light comes on, then when accelerated the light goes out and pressure resumes, and then now the check engine light is on any ideas? oil is changed every 3k miles and there is no engine knocking or tapping very good car until now. oil pump is going bad or there is problem with oil pressure witch have it check out because if oil pressure is low it can cause serious engine damage. Have it check out soon hope this help

check the engine oil level... you could possibly need to replace the oil pump soon... if you do not live in a cold climate i would consider using 30 or 50 weight oil. do NOT use that in a cold climate as the oil is like molasses when it gets cold.
that's only temporary. one other thing to consider is a clogged oil filter... when was the last time it was changed ?

OOO not good sounds like some of the head gasket got stuck somewhere, or the gauge or sender is bad or got knocked around when repairing the head gasket. I would check that first. If that checks out will need to drop the pan to see if something got stuck in the pickup tube,might as well change the pump while you are there. Or worst case some thing wrong with gasket job impeading oil flow back to bottom of the engine. Was the oil and filter changed ?if so pull out filter and see if an chunks are stuck in it now. And change oil and filter again. Sorry that was out of order I had a long day

You could try thicker oil or stop using synthetic or add some lucas oil treatment or change the oil. The sender could be bad too. A diag is in order because if there is no presure the engine will soon die.
