Console box does not open - 2007 Lexus GS430

Lift up gearstick gaitor leaving plastic surrounding in place.

Lift plastic surround and remove lock and Hazzard switch.
Push gaitor through surround and remove surround.
Remove ***** from front of centre consoleand 2 screws from rear.
Follow the side of the centre console down into footwell and remove Popper from each side.
Pull console forward slightly and disconnect cigar lighter.
Remove centre console.
Remove 2 screws below the radio.
Pull radio/air-conditioning surround forward, leave the radio in the surround as it will come out with the surround.
Remove 2 screws holding the glovebox to the centre console.
Open glovebox.
Remove 3 screws along the top front.
Open the fuse box at back of glove box and push the fuse holder up off the flap.
Open passenger door.
Remove dash side panel and remove 2 screws.
Remove kick panel trim in passenger footwell and remove ***** from bottom of glove box. (The glovebox will need to be open to see this *****)
Pull glovebox out slightly. It can be hard to pull out, just be sure you have all screws out.
Disconnect glovebox light and light switch.
Remove glovebox fully.

To remove, first remove the middle floor mat. Open front console door. There is a loop lever at the bottom of the front compartment. Pull up on the loop and pull the console forward. It wont go very far because there are 2 cables under console at the rear that must be disconnected. Disconnect the cables and console can be removed.
As for the fuse. There are 2 main boxes with fuses, 1 is on the drivers side of the dash board (accessible with drivers door open), and the other is the "junction box" under the hood. Both covers have map with explanation of what fuses and relays are for, although since this was an option, not sure if they would be listed as anything other than "open" or "accessory".

There are two locations for fuse boxes on a 2005 Cobalt. 1) is under the hood, on the driver's side, under the jump start contact. 2) is inside the center console, on the right side. The forward part of the console kick panel has a press-opening panel, which, when removed, reveals the fuse box.

Remove side clips holding the glove compartment into the console and unhook the elastic string that guides the compartment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

quite easy in fact just grab the plastic behind the control box and pull straight up the plastic will detach easily lift it up a little bit and you can now slide your fingers behind the lid cover.

Some cars have an over ride switch in the glove box, which allows you to lockout a valet. You simply shut off the switch and lock the glove box and the valet cannot access the trunk without the master key to unlock the glove box. See if you have one that has been shut off by mistake.

A guy at Lexus helped. The console pops up and then there are two screws to undo. Took him about 5 minutes.

lot of work. There is a bolt in the glove box that you will have to remove. first open your glove box and squeeze the two sides to drop the box out. then on the left towards the radio there is a gold bold. I believe 10mm socket would fit. unbolt that and that should free up the front to allow you to get the rest out. That little light is a pain to get to. alot of bolts and screws for one light.
