SOURCE: 2002 chevrolet suburban won't drive in reverse

It could be the linkage. Jiggle the shifter to see if that helps. When it goes in reverse the trans opens other valves to put trans fluid (under pressure) to the reverse unit. If the trans has not had a trans service every 30k or so the fluid could get dirty ans gummey. There are trans additives can claim the desolve the gum. I have donethat before and it has helped my trans. They claim no damage to the trans. - I tried it

1987 Chevy Suburban with 6.2L diesel shakes at certain speeds.

Sounds like you may have a loose motor mount. I would check these as well as any that support the transmission.

If this doesn't seem to be the issue, try replacing the fuel filter, glow plugs, and make sure all vacuum lines are connected and in good repair.

Where is the fuel filter located in a 1987 Suburban?

For 1987 Chevrolet Truck R10 1/2 ton Sub 2WD 5.7L TBI 8cyl the Fuel Filter is located under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, near fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line.

Hope this help.

I have a 1987 2 wheel drive suburban 5.7 v8 and I just stopped a signal light and it died. I put it in park it started right away and when I depressed the brake and tried to engage it to drive it died...

No. It is either a fuel or ignition problem. Check for spark, and then fuel. Your filter could be plugged, or fuel pump may have given out. I assume it's fule injected? You should be able to hear the pump cut in for a couple of seconds. If it's carburated , just take the breather off, and pump the gas a couple of times. You should see gas squirting in the carb.
If there's no spark, check wires, distributor, etc.
