If both wheels are not turning look into the diff. but if only one tire is seized check for a brake problem.

SOURCE: replace rear axel bearing on 4x4 5.3 Litre gas engine

Loosen differential cover and let oil drain. Remove cover, remove U lock from axel. Pull axel out. Remove bearing seal then bearing. Install new bearing, seal and reinstall axel. Reinstall U lock and new cover gasket. Fill with 75-90wt gear oil. Now I know that sound pretty straight forward. But there are some things to remember. The U lock can be difficult to remove sometimes. The most important thing is the seal, you will need to make sure it gets seated correctly and not torn when installing axel.

SOURCE: 1990 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500

the connections near the front axle that activate the motor to engage the system aren't melted? That's a comon problem for that body style. If there good, sounds like it could be that motor itself. To figure out if it's you motor or transfercase, jack up the rear end, have a friend inside shift into 4 wheel drive, or try to, and put it in gear and apply some gas. If the front driveshaft is turning then it's something with the front end. If not, farther back in the system.

SOURCE: 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 rear brakes

Hi joelalthomas, if they replaced your brakes and you never even made it home they had better warranty the work and as for the "it was a common problem on 2002-2004 trucks" well check for Chevy recalls as this is a safety issue that would have been corrected at no expense to the vehicle owner, do a little more research my friend and let me know what happens, I will check around a little as well in the meantime I would find a new garage.Do not pay any more as you said your brakes worked fine until they worked on it good luck to you As for your 4x4 did you look at the left side when you did the right side? and were they bled off properly? you can visually check to see if the calipers are functioning

SOURCE: need to replace brake line from rear axle forward

Chanses are it broke behind the gas tank wear it runs along the frame rail. You don't need a diagram to fix that, just unhook it at both ends and break it off or cut it off buy the tank and take the pieces with you to a auto parts store and they will match it up with new line, just take a tape measure and measure from the rear axel to the front block or perportioning valve, and don't worry about the piece behind the tank, just run the new line alongside the old one behind the tank unless you want to pull the tank out.

1991 4.3 GMC SIERRA SLX 1500 engine starts but as soon as you go to turn the steering wheel or turn the a/c on the engine dies, have any idea ? ihave changed multiple sensors.

I would check the idle air control valve and the throttle body.
The valve could be faulty or the throttle body could have dirt blocking the air passage.
If you keep the RPM above idle speed does it still stall ?

What is the location for the ABS sensor for the rear on a 2003 sierra Truck 4 x4

Just wanted to get you this GMC update for your vehicle before you replace that sensor ,, and unless you have the special tool , you can't do it either,, It requires that tool and they have made it so it needs to be done by them, which at that time they will set the system up again,, ,,,A poor electrical ground under the battery tray may cause the ABS warning light to illuminate. cleaning and properly securing this ground and also the main ABS ground on the frame rail below the drivers door may be necessary.

1997 gmc 1500 4x4 soft brakes

Make sure master cylinder is full of brake fluid, then check to make sure rear drum brakes are adjusted properly. With rear wheels off the ground, truck in neuatral, wheels chocked, by hand spin wheel it should have a firm drag to it. If not they need to be adjusted.
