I recently took my car in for this problem. The thermostat was replaced a year ago. This time they replaced the thermostat and the IAT (air intake temperature sensor). The thermostat was 20 and the IAT was 50, with labor it all came to $140. Most sites online that I found suggested replacing both the sensor and the thermostat at the same time. When the thermostat goes, it usually takes the sensor with it. So I'd have them replace your sensor too. Good luck.
Dealerships are always glad to sell what you don\'t need. And how anyone was conned into believing that a t\'stat can take down a sensor in an external air duct, well...I suppose it only goes to show how much more acceleration of falsity that the Internet gives to nonsense than to horse sense. Smart money says fix what\'s broke; then wait for the other to break or not break--which is likely to be much longer or til death do car and driver part--hopely death of car. Internet money, on the other hand, say dumb outnumbers smart so anything goes. Why, I wonder about everytime a TPMS sensor out put fails (which is not infrequent), is it time for a new set of tires? Or just a new spare tire?
