Hi,
I had the same problem before, you also feel a little shake on the steering wheel.
you have to check on two things:
First: check your car's hydrulic steering oil level.
Second: If the hydrulic oil level is ok, you have to change the rear diff oil, and there will be no groaning any more, no need to change the shaft.

I have a 2008 crv wich makes clunking noises when slow turning near full lock and noticing high wear to the outside edges of the front tyres

One or both of two issues, get it looked at for possible axle shaft bad, or a wheel bearing. Get it looked at before it gets real bad.

On my 2003 Honda CRV Sport, When I lock me steering I get a grinding noise, does anyone what this is? Cheers Alan

if the noise only occurs at full lock then it is the pump clutch slipping which is normal.sounds awful but okay.

Honda CRV V reg There is a bad judder through vehicle when turning steering on full lock when moving & there a cluck from the auto box not on drive take up but rolling starts or on kick down

Hi

The judder could be many things, check the power steering fluid and power steering belt.

Also on the gearbox, check the fluid. this could be the slave cylinder on it's way out or it may just need bleeding through.

Hope this helps

Crv noise on full lock

The most likely cause for this is worn CV joints. The CV or constant velocity joints on your driveshafts will emit a clicking type of noise when the steering is turned to full lock. If this is describing what you are hearing it is a classic symtom of CV trouble.

Otherwise noise when applyiing brakes or shifting gear is usually associated with worn ball joints or steering/lower/upper arm linkages.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

1997 honda crv growling noise from rear wheels

from a local tyre and honda dealers, a growing noise at the back were caused by tyres profiles. According to them, CRV's come standards with certain brand ( Goodyear i think) and with certain size and certain profiles, so if you have got different ones at the back, it would create that noise. I've got myself honda crv 2005. hope its helpful.
