The last ignition switch I worked on was on a 1996 Pontiac sun fire. It was located on the left side of the steering column across from the key tumbler under the plastic. I found the start wires and jumpered them making the starter turn. Next I removed the switch from the column, and with a screwdriver, I turned it until the starter once again turned. I found the tumbler assembly wasn't turning far enough to start it. There was a small metal cover on the tumbler that had popped up and kept it from going farther. Hope this helps. Disconnect the positive battery cable, remove the wires from the starter solenoid, remove starter. I can usually sneak it out of there without removing to much of anything else.

PUT A BREAKER BAR ON ENGINE CRANKSHAFT BOLT AND SEE IF YOU CAN GET THE ENGINE TO TURN OVER BY HAND,IF IT WONT TURN, SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE SOLD YOU A EHICLE WITH A LOCKED UP ENGINE. GOOD LUCK!!!!1

find your reset switch and reset it

Replace the starter.

The dash assy will have to be romed and tilted forward across the top, then replace the bulbs.

Need more info....such as, does it crank over with the battery ?

On your van the solenoid is attached to the starter. If you can get a solenoid separate (i don't know if you can) then you will need to take the starter off and remove the solenoid (2 screws holding it on) and the wires (on red and one black i believe) pay attention to which wire goes where because you don't want to reverse it on the new solenoid.
