Rob, assuming this is a 4X4? Sounds like a bearing. They can vibrate, snap, clunk, all kinds of terrible noises or vibrations.
Axle u joints will also do this. Is it all wheel drive?
yes it is a 4x4 crew cab short box
I will check n\
I will check the bearings and u joints. but would they not still make a noise when in nutral or clutch disengaged? I can understand the turning to take the load of suspected front end will make it dissapear. Oh one final thing I just had the cluch replace by DB Diesel...and now the howling sound and vibration are worse and start with less load/torque. Does this help you narow it down
Not necessarily, the bearings tend to bind when loaded. In nuetral there is no load, when turning the load shifts laterally. Jack the rig and block it. Once safe, try to rock the wheel top to bottom perpendicular to the side. Also examine the cv boots if equiped. Also note, when a bearing is going bad, they generate heat. Careful not to burn yourself. A great tool to have is a Harbor freight $40 temp gun, sometimes spots failing bearings fast.

SOURCE: Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?
Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.
SOURCE: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon making a weird noise
Hello mpolci...The 2003 Tiburon was sold to the public with a defective clutch, it failed due to warpage and bad pressure plate... among other things. There are MANY class action lawsuits. Did you resurface or replace the flywheel when the clutch was replaced? Did you go with an aftermarket clutch kit, or factory? Also the slave cylinder on the 03 was known to have a defective valve.
You can try checking the levels and bleeding the system and if you still have problems, then it could
be a release bearing, a loose clutch pad, or a broken pressure plate spring....If the clutch is still under warranty, i would return it to the installer.
Good luck, i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.
