2005 dodge ram 1500 4.7 misfire cylinder 2 52,000 miles

  • dbdesignspm May 19, 2009

Could this also be causing my overheating under load and loss of power?

  • dbdesignspm May 19, 2009

Someone mentioned the heads might be bad? I would think I would have more noticable symptoms?

Change the plug, wire, and distributor cap.

It will cuase a loss of power, but not overheating.

I doubt that the heads would go after 52,000 miles, my '98 ram has over 173,000 miles on it and the heads are fine.

04 DODGE Ram hemi cylinder 3 misfire

Check engine compression and compare. then test running engine compression most engines have about 130-170 cranking compression and about 90-110 running compression. OR bring that cylinder to its Top Dead Center compression stroke apply air to the cylinder and check to see where the air is going open throttle plate bad intake valve, from exhaust pipe bad exhaust valve, from oil cap piston rings.

Had 2005 ram 4x4 hooked to computer, shows miss is in #2 cylinder, what could cause truck to miss/lose power and could it be in fuel system

I suppose it COULD be fuel...maybe an injector. But it would be best to troubleshoot the problem in the misfire first. Check to see if the cylinder is getting spark first, and if not, track the problem back from there, testing components as you go.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.7l Hemi. It started running rough and the check engine came on. I had a mechanic friend hook it to his diagnostic computer and it said that the left bank was misfiring....

Usually you get a code that tells you which cylinder or cylinders are acting up.
The code means the cylinder (s) are not providing power but does not tell you why.
So you have to figure out if it is an ignition, compression, or fuel problem to proceed. Could also be a vac leak.

2005 dodge ram 1500 hemi. will set code 0132 when starting only some times. O2 replaced both sides.

Try changing the coolant temp sensor, it determines when the ECU shifts from open loop (cold) to closed loop(hot)
