1999 GMC Sonoma 2.2l 5 speed manual--SLS trim--The engine sees to cut out (actually feels like a flutter) while driving--doesn't happen all the time and seems to happen at all speeds. I have replaced the spark plugs and wires (checked them since and burning clean) replaced the fuel pump and cleaned out tank also replaced the fuel filter. As a side note when i changed the oil last time about 1500 miles ago i noticed the water pump had a small drip from the weeping hole in casing so i replaced it too. Has me stumped--no codes read on the computer per AutoZone and Advance Auto.

P1133 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Insufficient Switching Bank 1 Sensor 1
I would have the repair shop see if they either damaged or left disconnected the oxygen sensor for engine cylinder bank one upstream sensor, this sensor would have been disconnected if the oil pan was removed.

Don't buy carter pumps for sure, I know champion makes a damn good pump, but you might want to do some research for yourself. remember you get what you pay for and just replacing the fuel pump is a pain in the @$$ so spending alittle extra for a quality pump is worth not having to change it again

You may have too much back pressure or a blockage in the exhaust system. Have your convertor checked especially if over 100,000 kms, 60,000 miles. Good luck!
Testimonial: "It was both a bad catalytic converter and at least one bad ignition coil. The coil probably failed because the exhaust was plugged and got too hot under the hood."

My engine light in my 2002 GMC Sonoma has been on for the past four weeks. Yesterday I had an oil change done on my truck with a local mechanic. He turned the engine light off, but it came on soon after leaving his shop.
This morning I went to start my truck and there was NO power whatsoever. After repeatedly turning the key, I soon saw a slight movement on the battery display, but no lights would come on. It just seemed like it wasn't getting any power. I changed the battery two years ago, so it should be fine.
Eventually, the truck received full power and started, more less out of no where. It wouldn't hold an idle and would just die if i took my foot off the gas.
Hopefully someone has a solution for me.
Thanks.

try a new cap and rotor arm if still no joy then it might be head off and check the valves as one of them could have a chip off or a seat is damaged ,could also be a hydraulic tappet if oil hasnt been changed regular ,This is another one of them type of things where i would need my hands under the bonnet to have a good look
