I have a 1998 Peugeot 306, the fuel gauge and speedometer are not working meaning that they remain at zero when the engine is on, fuel tank filled and the car is running.

Hey Pam, your on the right track there would be no bad effects I can think of to reestablish ground wire to body just use a good 10 gauge wire .and go from there .good luck .

there is a cable which comes from the transmission and goes back into the speedometer try pressing both ends if it does not work it means your cable is broken get a new cable
Hi
Very common on the 306, the door wring from the inside of the door jar into the side of the dash board gets frayed and then the windows stop working or work intermitently, does the wiondo go up and down when the door is all the way open? try it and let me know.
Most likely it will be the wiring, please get back to me if you are unsure what I mean.
IT SURE SOUND TO ME LIKE YOU ARE MISSING A GROUND TO THESE GAUGES. THIS WILL BE TOUGH TO LOCATE WITHOUT A SCHEMATIC DRAWING TO HELP YOU. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO LOOK UNDER THE DASH FOR A LOOSE WIRE. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK THE FUSE PANEL FOR THE FUSE MARKED GAUGES TO SEE IF IT IS MAKING GOOD CONTACT. HOPE THIS HELPS. BEST OF LUCK. LET ME KNOW PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi i have a garage this problem i encountered myself the other week disconnect the battery for about five minits and then reconnect this solved the problem on this P reg 306 good look if you have not sorted your problem.
are the spark plugs sparking ?? if not then it could be an ECU fault or the immobiliser cut in.Seems strange that the clock and fuel gauge have stopped as well or they are just coincedental
two separate problems
and which connrection with posting it under 1995 ford Aspire?
