Can't find the shift lock override button on 02 Santa Fe

You are probably having an issue with your shifter interlock. Your owners manual should tell you how to bypass it for emergency situations, but you will need to have it looked at and repaired. There is a cable and solenoid that releases when the brake pedal is depressed.

It could possibly be a bad electrical connection or poor connection with the transmission. Did the mechanic get any error codes?

Try turning the key at the same time as turning the stearing wheel, you should only need to move it a lttle. I am not sure which direction you will need to turn the wheel so you must try both in turn. I think this is caused by the steering lock. I hope this helps.

The
shifter needs to be inspected. Its quite possible that The
shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.







There
are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and
suddenly this shifting problem occurred then its shifter
assembly alignment issue.

You do have drive and reverse,if you have park and neutral.It just the transmission cant transfer that power a new or rebuilt is the solution

Your door lock actuator have issues

the shifter lock is electromagnetic,when ignition is off the shift stick will move anyway you like(you cannot lock it in park...) .
