My 2001 S10 4wd Blazer with automatic trans. will not shift properly. When put into drive it will not go into the lowest gear but seems to to be in the highest gear. You can manually put the lever into first gear but when moving the shift lever into 2nd, nothing happens, no shift. When you put it manually into 3rd, it does shift into a higher gear but when you shift into drive, it stays in the previous gear and does not change. When coming to a stop it does not downshift but seems to stay in a higher gear. Also, the check engine light is on.

Run the fault codes to find the problem sensor
could be TCM, TR sensor or VSS sensor

SOURCE: slight miss in engine, hard shift from 1st to 2nd long 2nd gear

Check both O2 sensor(s) and catalytic coverter.. P0420 means catalyst below threshold. Also check the sensor at the transmission and solenoid.

1 st did you fill the transmission after radiator replace ment some lines go to the rad. when you loose fluid it needs to be added and checked. Other wise it sounds like a trans needs to bo serviced.

Sounds like the PRNDL switch on the side of the transmission. Be sure and clear the code before trying to start after replacing it.

Drop the pan, odds are the shift solenoid is out, its located at the front of the trans on the driver side. I'm sure your check engine light is on that will comment about the timing/shift solenoid being bad. I had the same problem with mine. The solenoid had plastic coming out of the inside. To remove it you'll find a small C clip holding it in, just take a small screw driver and pull the clip out. The part cost me like $36 from my local dealership. And its a longer solenoid. I believe its the 3-2 downshift solenoid. I do have the part number if you need it.

Your trans is speaking out loud. I not a trans pro but it seems to be the valve body in the trans not circulating the fluid properly. If the trans has been properly maintained by R/R the fluid & filter & adjustments, depending on the year make , model & mileage, it sounds like the trans itself. Again if the trans hasn't been maintained properly, at this point if you drop the fluid it probably will stop shifting altogether. Wish I could get my hands on it to give you a definite diag. Have a pro ck it out. Good luck

1997 cheby blazer lt v6 4x4 when shifting from first gear to second gear, there is a jum. is this a problem or is the automatic transmission just shifting on first to second gear?

sounds like a sticky sol. for second gear or first gear this is a com. prop you can try what the dealers whould do is use there trans tretm. 3 pack solutoin and follow dir. this would fix a lot of trans when i worked in the dealer

if you have a modulator valve on your tranny it may be bad,the vacum could be restricted on it,the mod. valve controls shifts smoothly.lucas trans. additive helps with stuck valves in trannys,

0753 is shift solenoid A, electrical problem.as for the other codes they should start with a zero not a one. if they started with a 0757 that means shift solenoid B,stuck in on position. 0762 means shift solenoid C,stuck in on position. 0765 means shift solenoid D,malfunction

2001 chevy blazer not shifting right

Check the oil if you haven't already. If that makes no difference, change the tranny oil and filter. It can make a world of difference. Another thing it could be is your fuel filter. The engine is starving for gas, and can't shift properly.
