I was rolling up my driver side power window for my 1993 Pontiac grand prix when all of the sudden the window made a weird sound and I looked over and saw that it was pushed forward. it was as if it got shifted forward and its stuck in the middle. it goes up only an inch and down only an inch. I think it may have gotten of the track but I am not sure.

He's right. Sounds like tracking problems.

You are correct in thinking the window is off track.

When the window is not used often or gets a little older the motor can "Hang Up" You might try having someone hold the down switch on the drivers door while you slam the door. This will sometimes jar the motor enough to make the brushes contact and start working.

SOURCE: 1996 pontiac grand am drivers side window off track how do fix and is it hard not power windows

remove the door panel, from the inside you should have access to the window. lift the window up unto the raling. Check to see if the railing is not bent or why the window came off the railing.

Problem number one sounds like a dead battery to me. Problem with driver door is the cable in your window regulator is broken and bound up. Will need to replace the regulator. Passenger side window problem could be caused by a number of things... most common that come to mind are window guide not in correct position or one of the bolts that hold the window to the regulator has come loose.

SOURCE: power window won't work at all on driver side...Others work well.

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can test the switch at this point to see if they work. If not, you can then pull off the weather seal and access the regulator, motor inside the door that will be held in by several bolts

The switch will be about $10-20, the regulator and motor will each be $80 plus. Dealer will charge you around $200 just to fix, plus cost for part

SOURCE: Pontiac Grand Prix Drivers side window won't go down

Most often on those the motors are shot. as soon as they are activated they overheat and slow down or stop. Only way I know of to repair is to replace them. You will need a manual to do this or do them one at a time so you can check how it goes back together by looking at other one. Motors are riveted in and need to be drilled to remove...use small bolts to re-attach.
I've seen motors online for about $30-40 each.

1991 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I need the fuse box diagrams please. I bought the car used and it didn't come with any of the covers.

If all of those are blown, you are in for a whole lot of heartache! Cigarette lighter overloaded, easy fix. Blower motor, probably the resistor, fairly easy fix if you can get to it. Windows, relays, or if only on drivers side, broken wires where door meets frame.

I have a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix I cant open the drivers side door from the inside I have to roll down the window and open it from the outside

Sounds like the rod or cable disconnected from the inside lever, you have to take the door panel off and see what came loose.

I have a 2001 Pontiac grand prix. My rear drivers side window wont roll up or down, When i took door panel off, i noticed a blue and red wire that has a gray plug, That seems to me should go somewhere,...

it should go to the window motor or the power locks or the power window button.
check window motor with a test light for 12 volts at the plug.
check regulator/pulley system for a broke cable.

My 1997 Pontiac Grand Am driver side window will not roll up but passenger side works completely

I have a 1999 grand prix and I had this same problem. It was my switch on the drivers side cluster. I bought a whole used cluster on ebay for $25. We tested my motor by applying power to the motor with 12 volts from a battery. a power window motor window has 2 wires. put (+) on one, and (-) on another and one way will take the window up, the other will roll it down.

Vibrating Noise

Hi

Sounds like the problem is possibly on your front suspension, drivers side ?

You need to check your Shockers, Anti roll bar bushes etc, Front wheel bearing´s, and also the Tyre's for bulges, or uneven wear, and loss of balance weights.

I expect you should be able to see the problem, being it one of these !

Good Luck !

A fixYa rating would be appreciated please !!!
John.
