I have a 1988 Nissan 300Z Turbo. I do not hear the fuel pump clicking. I unhooked the fuel line after the fuel filter and cranked the engine. No fuel from the fuel line. What should I try?

Fuel pump relay? Fuel pump itself? Bad ground in fuel pump? Check for voltage going to the pump. If volts ok, pump is bad, if volts are not present, bad relay.

SOURCE: 1987 Nissan Sentra diagram for fuel line routing

There are many online wiring diagram solutions, but the cheapest way to find your diagram is to purchase a haynes or chilton manual from the local auto parts store. Both have excellent wiring, fuel lines, brakelines, etc diagrams. I prefer the Haynes manual myself.

My 1993 nissan terrano,4x4 turbo diesel, isnt bringing fuel up to the injectors after i replaced the diesel filter.does anybody have a solution for this please

Did you follow these procedures?

  1. Release the fuel pressure from the fuel line as follows:
    1. Remove the fuel pump fuse at the fuse box.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. After the engine stalls, crank the engine two or three times to make sure that the fuel pressure is released.
    4. Turn the ignition switch OFF and reinstall the fuel pump fuse.
  2. Loosen the hose clamps at the fuel inlet and outlet lines. Wrap a shop towel or absorbent rag around the filter, then slide each line off the filter nipples.
  3. Remove the fuel filter and old hose clamps.

To install:

  1. Place new hose clamps on the fuel inlet and outlet lines.
  2. Connect the fuel filter, being careful to observe the correct direction of flow, then tighten the hose clamps.
  3. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

Always use a high pressure-type fuel filter assembly. Do not use a synthetic resinous fuel filter

1996 Nissan Altima crank-no start. Didn't hear the fuel pump, changed it. Still don't hear the fuel pump, still crank-no start. Float in gas tank has power, gauge reads correct. Is the relay for the...

There is a disconnect for the fuel line in the engine compartment. Disconnect it at the motor and cycle the key. This will determine if your fuel pump is running. If it is not which I would assume it isnt then check the relay. If the relay is not clicking when you cycle the key then replace it. If you have low pressure then try replacing the fuel filter. This could cause low pressure and keep the vehicle from starting. If it is not fuel delivery then there is a problem with your timing or firing order.

I change the fuel filter. The 300 zx 1988 after warms up and you are driving it stalls on you it fills like fuel depravation. You put it in neutral and idle and gain power again only to repeat the stall.

try with out filter, if it still fails when powered up then dirt may have got into line between filter and engine, if not, get pressure reading on fuel line after pump as pump may be going down, after that could be any thing, like an air leak

Main bearings are a major repair (engine rebuild stuff).
I would be getting some quotes for a rebuild and also for second hand engines.
Not going to be cheap either way.

Fuel pump is bad or plugged fuel filter it seems. Crack the line from the filter leading towards the engine first. If gas starts squirting out fast, you have good pressue. If not the filter is plugged or a bad pump. How old is the fuel filter by chance? If original its plugged up by now
