Your transmission and cv axle is running dry. Grease it up, fill it up and try it again. And tighten whatever is loose that is allowing it to leak.

Is there a bearing or bushing on the shaft that the left axle slides onto on a 1999 Bonneville se?

i have been fooled by this one way to many times. when a wheel bearing or hub assesembly is making noise, it will sound like it is comming from the other side. i do not know why this is. but one test will prove if and which one. when growling noise occurs, notice, when turning left or right, does noise get louder and quieter as you turn? if so then it is wheel bearing. when turning left the right side will make more noise. when turning right the left side will make more noise. if always the same then, tires or transmission need addressing. the cv axle does not make a growling noise, unless front wheel drive car does not move, it makes a clicking or poping noise. sorry but at least you dont have to replace other axle

2003 jetta gls rumble in the front end

sounds like a gearbox bearing ,,,this sounds like a growling noise usually when accelerating although as the problem gets worse it can happen constantly ,,, wheel bearings can growl too but will give a constant noise regardless of acceleration ,,, you need to see to this quickly as the more you drive you will cause more damage and cost to you ,,,,bearings will fix it in the early stages but if more damage is done you could have to pay for new gears and shafts which is expensive

My 1995 volkswagon golf is making a buzzing noise from the relay before starting and now it doesn't start

sounds like the starter relay has shorted out, unplug it and get a replacement , if you have another one thats the same in the vehicle, trade it out and see if the motor starts, if so ,, Just get another relay

Front end makes noise when driving down the road, front brakes were just replaced but not the rotors, could they be warped

Locate an overpass. Drive slowly under it and open the front window and listen for the noise. If you hear a growling noise its the wheel bearings. Do the same for the rears only this time open the rear windows. You can also lift the vehicle offf the ground and spin each wheel and listed for the growling. Rotors don't make noise they usually give you a pulsating pedal if they are out of round.
