When I am driving and the AC is on there is no noise at all but when the car is not moving and the AC is on it make a gridding noise. When the AC is off there is no noise at all? What could this be?
The AC compressor is failing or the clutch pulley bearing is defective, u can't hear this when driving because road noise cancels out the AC compressor noise.

Hi buddy, Would suggest ya to try some online manuals.. if u know a good website then go ahead or otherwise try reliable-store.com It's great for automobile repair and the people are also very helpful .. All the best:)
You need to relist this problem. This is for real Cars and Trucks. It sounds like the drive gear is ground off or you have sand of something jamming the gears.
That is a typical noise when the A/C compressor drive belt needs more tension. It will have probably 2 clamp bolts to loosen, and an adjusting bolt to move one of the pulleys.
What kind of noise? If it's like a squeal it is a lose belt. If it's more like a clunk it's the transmission shifting and you just happen to notice it more because of the higher RPM the motor is at with the AC on. Try getting the vehicle moving with out the AC on then turning it on after you are moving to see if you get the same sound. If it's a squeal you have a loose belt that needs replacement or tightening.
this sounds like the AC compressor is failing, the engine idles slower in drive so noise is more apparent. you are likely going to need to replace it soon.
this is because your bearing in the heater motor is going out. if this is driving you nuts then you will have to replace the blower
hope this helps you
