SOURCE: my jaguar x-type 04, remote lock does not work,
Hi,
I have a similar problem in my x type. Although if I press unlock button on the key first and then use the metalic key to unlock it dissables the alarm.
Also according to the manual if you unlock by the metalic key the car starts a beeping sound its I think 15-20 second timer within which you should put the key and start the ignition (don't need to start the engin) this will dissarm the alarm if not the alarm will go off in 15-20 second.
Hope this information is of any use, am trying to get hold of Jaguar dealers to fix this issue. If you come accross any solution please do let me know too
SOURCE: Key remote battery replacement
Make sure that you have the Batteries Installed Correctly. If these Remotes take the Flat Round Batteries, Look and see if it tells you inside the Remote which way to Put the + On the Battery. Most of them have the + at the Top during Install. If it takes the Small Regular Battery, Looks like a Smaller AAA. You will need to Push the Connectors in a Bit Before you Install the Battery to make Sure that It connects with Both ends. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help that I can Get! Thanks!
SOURCE: I cannot open the doors
This is a common fault on the series 3 usually down to the General Module 5 or GMV relays breaking down. Item is situated behind glove box reasonably easy to replace. Cost from BMW about £240.00 Can be found through breakers about £60.00. Keys will have to be recoded. See www.bmwgm5.com for more info.

You will probably need to replace the power door lock actuator.
Here's a link to one similar to yours.
