You have a short in the brake system wires. Id start disconnecting everything one at a time until the dimming goes away. Then that component will be your issue. Whether it has failed or the wires going to it are shorted will depend on diagnostics and what it shows.

Hello
With regards to the brake lights, you need to replace your brake switch located under your brake pedal.
With regards to spongy pedal, sounds like air in the line you need to bleed the brakes via the bleed nipple on each caliper and check your brake fluid.
hope this helps.
Thanks

Mine is doing the same thing. I have to turn the key 1/2 way on, put it in neutral and then start it. I have NO break lights. Turns out my break pedal switch, the wires were disconnected from that switch. It's a dealer item they said.. so i'm trying to research it right now. I'll letcha know if it works

you mean you hear air in the cab down by the pedal. If thats the case your power steering assist is leaking. Its the big black unit behind the brake master cylinder. It may set a check engine light at times for lean condition.
Hi Check the brake-pedal switch. This small button behind the brake pedal is activated when you press down on the brake pedal and makes the brake light go on. Press the switch by hand to see if it's stuck. If it is, pressing it may force the stuck part. Find the fuse for the brake light and pull it out. Remember to put it back in before driving again Find the brake light bulbs and remove them. Remember to put them back in before driving again. Disconnect the negative battery cable. You will have to reconnect it again to start and drive your car. For the dome lights this can be a symptom that can be caused by a bad door switch. A bad switch could be sending a door open condition to the computer .Also check the dome light switch first. Make sure the right setting is being used. Normally it has 3 settings (1 - on always, 2 - on when door is open, 3 - off always). If the setting is on 2 and the problem still exists then check and/or replace the door jamb switches. These exist in each door jam and switch the light on and off based on a whether the door is open or closed.
