There are 12 common sensors and 10 internal sensors. The most common that often fail (MAP), (TPS), (CAM), (IGN), (CRANK) MAP is your mass air flow which is located at the beginning of your air intake, TPS is the throttle body position sensor, the CAM is the cam shaft position sensor (transmission), IGN ignition position sensor and the CRANK sensor is located near the bottom driver side front

there are 4 screws. two in the front behind the cup holder and two up underneath in the cupholder bay after the cupholder is removed. they are phillips head and 8mm I believe. this is all you need to remove the cover.

SOURCE: 2003 Pontiac Montana Front Wheel Bearings

Remove the wheel, remove the hub nut, remove the brake caliper and rotor, put your socket and extension through the hub flange onto the bearing retainer bolts, undo them, release the abs sensor connector if it has it, remove the bearing and hub flange as an assembly, put the new one on and go backwards from here. Torque the hub nut to 180 ft/lbs, your done.

2000 Pontiac Montana . Goes into gear hard when it shifts. Has 140000 miles on it.

It sounds like the pressure control solenoid inside the transmission. With that many miles I would suggest going ahead and rebuilding it. You need to remove the transmission from the van anyway to replace the solenoid. I have rebuild several of these, be sure to put in a shift kit, it makes a big difference. I've rebuilt them before and wasn't happy with the way it shifted, so I pull it back out, put in the kit and that did the trick. So, needless to say, I always put the kit in the first time. Although, I do know a guy that changed his filter and added some Lucus oil treatment for the transmission to the new oil, and he says he hasn't had that problem sence........makes me wonder.
