Sounds like your 12 volt battery is weak (strong enough to start but not enough to maintain). Of the Prius' 2 batteries, this one is by far the easiest and cheapest to replace (~$100 vs the ~$4700 Hybrid battery). I'd recommend taking the car to a shop and having the battery checked out. *Impotrant* Be sure to ask for a 'load test' instead of a simple voltage check. This should be a quick and free test from any auto parts store.

no the P light ans system will always be on unless you command a drive or N funtion since there is no 'park' in the drive train only a mechanical brake. when running/on, when you put in drive it should acknoledge drive and P should unlock. if not you have trouble and need the dealer
