Constant Heat Hello, I have a 2004 Silverado HD with the Duramax. I noticed yesterday that the AC on the driver's side quit working, it actually blows heat contantly. Even with the fan off I've got heat coming from everywhere; defrost, floorboard, dash, it seems hotter than usual too. The pasenger side works fine. I'm at a loss???

Remove both of the ac connections under the hood in the firewall.. use a garden hose on the disconnected pipes and have someone slowly turn the water on...do one side first, then do the reverse side..this will flush the system of build up or corrosion...you should see dirty water, then clean water coming out...reconnect hoses at firewall..cheers

This may be an issue with the actuator wiring harness. There is a known issue of the actuator harness rubbing on an instrument panel brace. This appears to be located behind the glovebox. Would check and make sure this is not the issue you are having. Locate the HVAC actuator harness contact point shown by the arrow in the above illustration. The illustration is of the instrument panel with the instrument panel compartment door opened and folded downward. The actuator harness is located in the left side of the opening in the instrument panel.2f2cfcf.gif

Heater only works on passenger side.

there is a motor actuator that moves these doors for hot and cold, two separate ones for either side. the motor unit for drivers side is no good and needs new one. replace this and all will be good.

A/C and Heat Driver Side Intermittent Problem

You will need to replace your driver side temp actuator. It is most likely sticking or over travelling. It is located under the dash directly below the a/c control head. It is bolted to the a/c box upside down with two small bolts. Let me know if i can help more.

2004 duramax dual climate control the driver side blows cold

Thankfully it was the drivers side controller! I found the temp control actuator located under the dash almost on the floor. I removed the four screws that held the cover in place then followed the wires to the actuator. removed the wiring harness then the two screws. replace with new part and heat works again!
