It sounds like the vehicle is in theft mode, did you use a different key? Does the theft light blink really fast with the key off?If the passive anti-theft system has been activated the computer will have to be reset in order to get the vehicle running again.
I know this sounds weird...but I locked the door..then input my code to unlock...then it crank with no problem

theft light goes out after a few seconds as it should.
im so fustrated it started weeks ago when while driving it just died. cooled down for a day and it ran for a week with no problems. then it died again same thing. then once again and now it wont start at all. changed out coil pack and crankshaft sensor. still no luck
I have a 1998 ford explorer with a no crank condition, has new battery and starter, also the theft light is conststantly blinking
Key chip. Go to the Ford Dealership. OR try a spare (second key) if you have one.
