Trunk lid will not pull down

"Trunk pull Down Motor Suddenly stopped working" Checked 40 Amp fuse (109) under the hood-- OK. With the trunk open, the trunk ajar light on the dash does not come on. The trunk light does not come on either. I disconnected the 2 wire connector going to the pulldown motor. I checked to see if there was any voltage (12 volts) and there was none going to the moter. Took the pulldown assy. apart, Took the bar that the motor moves to pull down the trunk out, Pulled the catch up and replaced the bar so the trunk would be in the open position. I reassembled everything. When I close the lid, it just latches, it does not pull down. I don't know what else to do. I have an owners manual.

I had the same problem, there is a stop switch that is bad. (got one from a junkyard but it was bad also). haven't found one online yet, but will ask my local ford dealer if part is still available.
so untill i find one, i got the motor to stop at the all the way down position (trunk closed) and then unpluged the motor.

SOURCE: Trunk pull Down Motor Suddenly stopped working

did it quit making the noise when you lightly push down on the trunk? most people slam these trunks and your not suppose to you are only to put light pressure on them and they pull it closed theirself.. you might check your relays under the hood and look in the box lid to see which one it is.. if this is not the problem you might have to replace the motor to the latch .. you might check with a test light to see if there is power to the motor first though .. thanks and holler if you have more Jerry .

Why doesn't pull down switch grab the trunk lid?

There's a motor that pulls the trunk lid down after it latches. The motor is under the latch on the body side. to test it, push a philips screwdriver shank into the latch like it was grabbing the trunk pull down motor to see if it triggers the motor to operate

Which fuse is for the trunk lid release

There is a motor back there. You gently push the trunk lid down, then the motor pulls it closed. Fuse #8 15 amp, but usually people damage this system by slamming the trunk lid, then the motor needs replaced. I hope that's not the case; they are $$$ not cheap. if the door locks and the power mirrors work, this fuse is good.

96 Lincoln Town car trunk will latch but the part that brings the trunk all the way down is not working

look under the cover under the trunk lid, and the motor that pulls the lid down. sometimes the bolts come loose and the motor slides, or a wire is loose on the motor or the fuse is blown. good luck and let me know if I can help more.

Front passenger Window only will go up when driver door is open, Trunk pull down is not working, and the radio antennae will not retract.

if you try to operate the window as you move the door from close to open and it works then stops when moving the door then it could be the wiring that passes from the body of the car to the door itself were the door opens.it should have a rubber cover that covers the wiring.these have a tendency to brake wires in this area that will touch and not touch when the door is moved.the trunk and antenna could be a fuse problem that can be checked with a test light.when you turn off the radio do you hear the motor working,if so then the antenna motor will have to be replaced.you should also hear the trunk pull down motor working.does it raise up with the trunk lid open or stay down.it could need replacing.make sure the connector hasn`t been disconnected.

Trunk doesn't close all the way

Before going to a repair facility, check the fuse for 'convenience group' , the relay in the distribution box under the hood, the connector in the trunk, and the closing motor itself--sometimes they get loose on their brackets, and fall away from the metal closing loop on the trunk lid. Also check the metal closing loop on the trunk lid--sometimes they get loose and don't enter the closing motor mechanism at the right depth for the motor to capture it and secure it down.

Trunk wont pull shut.

You have a pull down switch that activates the pull down motor for the trunk lid to close. The manufacture of this part supplies this to Ford & General Motors vehicles. You can go to a Cadillac dealership & purchase this part far cheaper than at Ford. I use to work at a GM dearlership & my neighboring Ford dealer would order this part from me for the cost of mine where less than the cost from Ford. Figure those guys out at Ford. No wonder they don't need a goverment bailout
