In order to resolve this problem you are going to need a different set of plugs even though the smart parts store mechanics say the computer says you need whatever plugs they want to sell you, you need to go with your OEM plugs if not sure call your local dealer and ask the parts dept. what is the name brand and specific length plug you need for your car when a plug is either too short or too long it will cause this problem if they say you have the correct ones then I would check the firing order to ensure the spark plug wires haven't been improperly installed meaning the firing order is off. I noticed you said the plugs were dirty if that was the case and plugs and wires are correctly installed and proper plug then I would have the fuel injectors cleaned try using some lucas fuel cleaner and stabilizer. If you feel wally world put too much oil in check your dipstick on level ground it will let you know if that is the case I would immediately take the car into dealer and have them check the oil pump to ensure it isn't damaged from over working or caused any other damages in your engine take the estimate with explanation of what caused the problem from the dealer to the walmart service manager where you had the tune up done to start the claims process to have them foot the repair cost or for reimbursement and demand a refund .This should get you back up and running correctly. much success and good luck with this. also before you install the new plugs check the gap settings on each plug to ensure proper gap the part store will sell or lend you a gap setting tool ask them to look up the setting and use gap tool check even if they say the plugs come pre-set.

1988 GMC pickup 4x4 350 engine its hard starting and will not idle i gave it a full tune up even a new fuel filter ive checked and changed all sencors on the motor

Do a compression test. The pistons and rings may not seal enough anymore. Try push-starting it in 2nd gear. When you push it ,it will turn the engine faster and build up more compression, enabling combustion to take place. Aslso check if the fuel pressure regulator is not leaking through the vacuum hose, causing it to flood.

1995 c220 petrol backfiring and idling wery slow replaced fuel filter and fuel pump .

it is probablly either from a sparkplug not firing due to brocken/damaged ignition lead or dirty plug or if has a ditributor it may have dirty points as backfiring is from unburnt fuel going into the hot exhaust. could also be either the fuel pressure regulator or dirty injectors if it's fuel injected. also may be from a faulty air/fuel ratio sensor.

Back firing and idle surging

I had a 96 Chevy S-10. After an oil change it was running week and backfiring. took it to a mechanic that replaced the crank shaft position sensor, ECM module and the ignition module 3 times and still didnt fix the problem. Brought it to the dealership turned out it was a broken wire going to the ignition module causing all of that problem.

Ford Escape goes dead

You started the right way.
It sounds like it needs a tune-up.
Change the sparkplugs - Use Autolite Platinum ($3.87 for two at WalMart; $6 each at AutoZone)

Also, check for faulty sparkplug cables as follows:
1. When it is getting dark outside, set the parking/emergency brake.
2. Open the hood.
3. Start the car and look under hood for "sparks" from the sparkplug cables to the engine (or other metal part).
4. DON'T TOUCH anything under the hood! The cables can shock you (bad!) or the fan can cut you or the Boogeyman may reach out ... (sorry)...
5. Turn off car .. that ends the cable spark test.
6. Replace ALL sparkplug cables if any create a light show under the hood.

Hope this helps!
(It's the plugs)

Recurring Mystery Problem in a 1986 Suzuki Alto. (Idle related)

Bad fuel, water in the fuel, dirt in the fuel.

Drain the fuel tank completely.

Pour in a gallon or two of fresh fuel.

See how it goes.

Put some of the old fuel in a glass bottle, hold it up in front of a light and see if you can see any foreign material in it...

there may be a software update for the powertrain control module for mis-fire monitor. check with your local dealer. but if thats not the case, these engines are known at least in my experience of having the heads crack between the valves and cause mild mis-fires. try compression testing all the cylinders and performing a leakdown test on them as well.
