Thermometer not reading correctly

2004 park avenue thermometer not reading correctly. outside temperature is reading too high. displays outside temperature on a/c control display.

  • Anonymous Apr 25, 2009

It seems about 20 to 25 degrees off. This morning it was in the mid 70's and it was displaying around 100. We are in the mid 90's now and it is displaying 110. I think 110 is as high as it will read. We have noticed that the accuracy has been degrading over the last few months.

I would guess the outside thermometer has lost its calibration.
Does it seem consistently 5, 10 or 20 degrees off all the time?
Let me know.

I would suggest replacing it. It is a very simple circuit and not very much to go wrong. You will find it is a (2) wire connection and a small thermistor located in the front, center, upper area of radiator near the hood latch area.

    Good luck, let me know.

    Regards,

Replace the sensor near the hood latch, I had the same problem. It also kept my AC from working.

MY 2004 PACIFICA'S SPEEDOMETER IS RUNNING HIGH AND THE OUTSIDE TEMP IS NOW READING IN CELSIUS. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

I would imagine that the car is fitted with some sort of menu where you can change the vehicle's readout settings into metric, so that now your car is reading in kilometers per hour and is also displaying temperature in the metric range.
You should access any in vehicle computer and reselect the ranges you wish to use.

1995 Buick Climate Controls Going Crazy

Same thing happened with my 95 park avenue a few weeks ago. I talked to a guy I know who is a GM mechanic and he says that the module (the thing on the dash with all the buttons and the temperature display) is broken and needed to be replaced. These computer modules just get funny with age and eventually have to be replaced. You can find one pretty easy on ebay motors. It's not hard to replace, you just have to take apart the dash and take out the old module and put the new one in. Hope this helps!
