SOURCE: Ignition failing to start -S280 MERCEDES BENZ 1999 MODEL

Crank shaft position sensor is bad. This is the most common failure. Its location is on the rear drivers side of engine, where the transmission bell housing mates to the engine, only one small bolt and a two prong electrical connector hold it on. Usually will not throw a trouble code. If you remove it you can test it with an ohm meter, will have an erratic reading or read open loop, can malfunction intermittently or permanently after parking vehicle and won't restart. Applying some heat source to it during ohm testing with a hot air heat gun will usually cause the sensor to read open loop if your not sure if its bad or not. This reply is probably way to late, but I just happened to come accross it while online. Harry (master certified MBZ diagnostic tech)

SOURCE: 1999 Mercedes Benz ML 430 periodically stalls at idle

Hi, Joe here The problem sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. The sensor is located on the transmission bell housing on the left side. Can be accessed threw the top of the engine near the firewall.

SOURCE: switch to 4 wheel drive in Mercedes Benz GL450

You have permanent all wheel drive dude. The system is always ready to go. If you want to do some offroading, activate the "off road" button that looks like a vehicle climbing uphill on the lower, center dash panel. This will allow more slip for the traction control system and hold lower gears longer in the trans

SOURCE: My mercedes Benz C 220 stalls when I come to a stop or in park .

Is the AC on? The compressor can take alot of power and make it lope. Engine mounts can make it shake. coils, cap, rotor and wires for tune up at a minimum. EZL if you can find one cheap. MAF also can cause issue. If it is a 1991-1995 check the engine wiring harness as they get brittle and degrade.

How to reset the check engine light on a 2008 Mercedes Benz S550

The best way to reset it is to have the problem repaired that caused it to come on. Another way is to disconnect the battery negative cable for a few minutes and then reconnect it. This may cause other problems - loss of presets on the radio, and possibly loss of radio functionality if you don't have the appropriate code. And, depending on what caused the light to come on initially, it may just come back on soon after you start driving again.

Loss of power

I can think of two possibilities.
1) The air mass meter could be defective, or covered in dirt, and not providing the right fuel mix under a load heavier than normal driving.
2) The monolith in the Cat may be breaking up and blocking the exhaust system, which would again be more noticeable under load.
Both possibilities are usually accompanied by reduced acceleration and a drop in performance but when the problem starts these things may not be detectable.

1992 300se mercedes benz lossing power when step on gas pedel

This car has a pretty reliable inline 6 cyl. The car also has TWO fuel pumps .. if one pump is bad the car will not produce full power. this is to keep you from being stranded if you have a fuel pump failure. What you really need to do is check the fuel pressure and see if thats up to spec. Check your air filter too.. Do you have black smoke when you step on the gas? or just poor power. ?

How do you troubleshoot heater control valve in a 1992 Mercedes Benz 400SE?

put 12vdc to the two pins at the heater solenoid and listen for a click sound. that will test the solenoid motor. Unscrew the four screw and pull apart to check the rubber diaphram. Clamp off the hoses to minimize coolant loss. Sometimes they get stuck and the manual power that you put to them will free them up and start working again. The insert is available separately.
