2006 Chrysler Pacifica Auotmatic Liftgate

I have a Chrysler Pacifica 2006. The liftgate is automatic and goes up but comes back down right away. I have a 2005 Pacifica and the liftgate this week automatically will not stay open any longer unless you hold it.  I am first going to try myself/install new gas shocks and if that does not work I guess I will have to take it to Chrysler to have fixed.

Yes new gas shocks on the lift gate will fix your problem. I had the same problem on my 2005 Pacifica and when it hit my head- I came up with the solution.

Good Luck,
Ray

What fuse is for the liftgate in a 2005 Pacifica?

I'm not sure how this question for a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica ended up in a Chevy Equinox Fixya forum but I used to live in Pacifica, CA so I did some research for the heck of it.

From another post in a different forum, I read that it's powered by fuse 11 in the engine compartment. I found some other stuff as well.

I read that there is a possibility of the liftgate connector being loose under the left tailight that could affect the defroster, the liftgate, the movement warning 'dinger' or all.

I read somewhere else that the emergency release is under a 1 inch plug at the bottom of the liftgate trim, on the inside of the car.

Please use this info with extreme caution. I don't actually have any first hand knowledge of the Pacifica, only did some searching. If none of what is listed above matches what you have in your car, please consult a licensed mechanic or Chrysler dealership for clarification. Best of luck.

2006 Toyota Sequoia - liftgate won't open, but handle not does not appear to be broken. Automatic door unlock is not unlocking the liftgate either. Is there an7y way to open the liftgate from either...

If it's not unlocking, The only way o get it open is pop off the trim piece that goes around the window. On the bottom panel there might be two screws to remove on each side. If not then it will pop off to a point, because there are screws on the bottom you can't access. Pull it back and reach down and find the rods that go to the latch. usualy the one that is horizontal is the one that unlocks the hatch. move it left or right to unlock it, try the handle to see if it opens. If it doesn't reach again and open it from the other rod. Pull up on it. Good luck

How to replace 3rd brake light on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?

the 3rd brake light is mounted to the spoiler. you need to remove the spoiler from the liftgate to acces the mounting bolts and the wire clip. there are five points of attachment of the spoiler, four hex nuts (metric) and one snap clip. two are accessable when the liftgate is open, they are in the corners of the liftgate. two more are under the upper rear window interior trim. the interior trim is held on by snap clips. if you pry outward on the trim starting on the right side of the window and work your way toward the middle you will be able to gain access to the two other nuts. once you have removed all four nuts, then close the liftgate and remove the spoiler by lifting up to disengage the last attachment point (snap clip). you will then need to change the light by removing the two nuts and disconnecting the wire clip. re-instal is the opposite of above. make sure that the wire for the third brake light does not get pinched when installed. (mine was improperly installed from the factory and the wire was pinched and this may have been why there was an early failure of the light)

How to replace the rear bumper cover on a Chrysler Pacifica

1. Open liftgate. 2. Remove both taillight assemblies by removing 2 hex-head bolts located in the area revealed when the liftgate is opened. 3. Remove 4 plastic retainers on the very bottom of the bumper cover in the rear. 4. Remove 2 phillips head screws in the wheel well rear lip. 5. Remove 4 pop-up plastic retainers in liftgate area. Use two screw drivers to lift the head and then pull the entire retainer out. 6. Remove a hex-head bolt from each side in the area revealed when the taillight assembly was removed. 7. Bend the bumper cover outward on each side to clear the wheel well lip and remove the bumper. Have a blanket or carpet on the ground to protect the bumper. 8. Remove metal clips from tabs that connect the upper bumper cover to the lower bumper cover. 9. Drill out pop-rivets that connect upper bumper cover to lower bumper cover. 10. Push tabs out of slots to separate the upper and lower bumper covers. 11. Release tab locks on chrome trim pieces and remove from upper bumper cover. 12. Reverse this process to replace the bumper cover.

Liftgate will not stay up

Your liftgate will not stay up "likely" because your gas shocks are worn out -  They are easy to remove - there is a little retaining clip on each end of the shock - you can use a small flat head screw driver to pop it out -  take care doing so because they are still under pressure (whatever's left anyway!)
You can find most common lengths of gas lift shocks at your local autoparts store
