P0446 Evaporative Emmission Control System Vent Control Circuit

Evap vent valve has only one purpose. It closes in order to seal the vent so the EVAP system can pressurize and ensure there are no leaks.

This code could mean one or more of these issues have happened:

Faulty vent valve
Open, short or excessive resistance on Vent valve control circuit

Blockage of vent valve

Bad PCM

Here are some things you can try:

Replace Vent valve

Repair open, short, or resistance problem in control circuit

Repair open, or short, or resistance problem in power circuit

Replace PCM

More then likely its the Canister Purge Solenoid. you can find it online at www.autozone.com the part number is PV140. And to replace it on blazer you have to remove the spare tire. Alot of people don't know where this part is so I hope this helps you and good luck.

SOURCE: on a 1998 chevy blazer

Hi,

P0452 indicates a low voltage signal from the fuel tank pressure sensor, which converts fuel tank pressure into a voltage signal sent to the ECM.

Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input indicates a low voltage problem in the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS). What the fuel FTP sensor does is convert fuel tank absolute pressure into electrical signals and inputs the signal to the ECM/PCM, (Computer). First thing to do is make sure the gas cap is good and tightened properly. Given the gas cap's age, you may just want to replace it as the seal may be dry and leaking which would give you a low pressure signal. Then check the vacuum lines and wiring at the FTPS (Location-Fuel Tank) to be sure they are good, clean and tight. Barring a wiring problem it can be a bad FTPS.

Regarding the noise from clutch, it seems to be a bearing issue or the clutch plate/pad might have worn.

Hope i helped.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

02 Chevy blazer p0155,p0446 codes. What to do?

EVAP Evaporative Emission Control System .follow this link for the P0446 fault , this is a problem with the Engine Evap valve , this link describes in detail the system etc. The other code P0155 is for the Front Oxygen sensor bank 2 , this could be a faulty wiring connection or the sensor its self so further diagnosis will be required .I would advice using a good quality fuel addative , one that covers the catalytic convertor as well as the usual engine parts, injectors etc as there may just be build up of carbon on the sensor that is restricting the signal being recieved , keep me posted if you wish

How i repair the 446 code

Hi there:
DTC P0446 - Evaporative Emmission Control System Vent Control Circuit
Evap vent valve has only one purpose. It closes in order to seal the vent so the EVAP system can pressurize and ensure there are no leaks. Evap vent valve is usually supplied Batt. voltage with key on. The ECM's driver controls the ground, and when grounded, activates the valve (closing it). If the ECM detects a short to ground, and open,or a short to battery voltage on the control circuit, P0446 will set.

With a P0446 OBD-II trouble code, here are some things to try:
Replace Vent valve
Repair open, short, or resistance problem in control circuit
Repair open, or short, or resistance problem in power circuit
Replace PCM

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Have a code come up code is 0446 on a 4.3 1996 sonoma

Code also may refer to ECM detecting that EVAP system is unable to achieve or maintain vacuum during test.

Symptoms: There will be no obvious symptoms to driver, other than MIL illumination.

Causes: A code P0446 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty vent valve
  • Open, short or excessive resistance on Vent valve control circuit
  • Blockage of vent valve

What does code 446 mean on the 1996 Chevy Blazer?

P0446 = Evaporative Emission Control / System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction.

Check it, and before you replace the Evap Canister read this:

Subject: DTC P0446 (Restricted/Blocked EVAP Vent Path) Set, Service Engine Soon (SES) Lamp Illuminated (Replace Hose/Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Vent Asm) #02-06-04-037A - (02/02/2005)
Models: 1999-2003 Chevrolet Silverado Models
1999-2003 GMC Sierra Models

Condition
Some customers whose vehicles are operated in dusty type environments, such as farming or mining off-road type applications, may comment about the illumination of the instrument panel SES light, with a DTC of P0446 (Restricted/Blocked EVAP Vent Path) being set.

Cause
Dirt and dust intrusion into the EVAP canister vent hose assembly, resulting in restricted air flow, may cause this condition.

Correction
After following the Service Manual diagnostic P0446 and determining that the EVAP canister vent valve is the cause of the SES light, replace the existing EVAP canister vent hose assembly with a new assembly, P/N 15086429. This new assembly has an enhanced filtering capability and a filter element that can be easily removed and cleaned. To ensure correct installation, follow the procedure below.

Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle.
Disconnect the EVAP canister vent valve electrical connector.
Disconnect the vent valve pipe at the EVAP canister.
Remove and retain the EVAP canister vent valve bracket mounting bolt.
Disengage, from the underbody, the two vent valve pipe clips securing the pipe to the underbody.
Remove and discard the complete EVAP canister vent hose assembly.
Position and secure the new assembly to the underbody using the existing hole and mounting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bracket mounting bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

Install the two vent valve pipe clips into the existing underbody holes.
Connect the vent valve pipe to the EVAP canister.
Connect the EVAP canister vent valve electrical connector.
Lower the vehicle.
When properly installed, the new EVAP canister vent hose assembly will be positioned outboard of the original installation location. This new location provides clearance for accessing the filter element for cleaning purposes. To access the filter element, disengage the filter cover to valve locking finger by gently lifting the finger upward while simultaneously rotating the filter body clockwise. After approximately 45 degrees of rotation, the filter can be disengaged from the valve by gently pulling outward. The filter cover can then be removed and the filter element and body can be washed with soap and water. Prior to reinstalling, ensure that the body and filter element are dry.

Hope help with this.

How do you remove the starter from a 1996 chevy 4WD blazer?

NO, it's kind of tight, but it's not that bad. You do need to remove the torque converter cover, and slide/rotate it as much to the driver's side of the vehicle as possible.
