I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville that won't start. It sat in the pound for 5 weeks. When I got it back I had to jump it with another car. It started and then stopped about half a block away and hasn't started again since. I had it towed to a shop and they told me it was bad gas. I had it towed to my house. I siphoned the gas out and replaced it with new gas and it still wouldn't start. I tried using starter fluid and I got a backfire that caused my engine block to crack. I sealed the block with JB weld and I have no known leaks. Now when I try to start it, it just gives me a clicking sound. I have had my battery and starter tested. I'm told the starter is good and also the battery but the battery decharges very quickly. What could it be?

its possible u may have burnt out the pump it uses the fuel to cool the pump

You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ?
It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, fuel pump, or a list of other things.

Look at all the body and engine grounds, there are some you may not be aware of so it would be advisable to look them up.

It could be the starter. It could be a bad battery cable connection. Have you tried jump starting the engine. If it starts, then most likely it's to do with the battery or charging system.

the battery is located under the rear seat, check battery connections. if connections are tight replace starter.

1999 Cadillac Deville- Won't start!

First, obviously, put gas back in the tank.

Check the fuel pump fuse, (20 amp yellow fuse in the lower left corner of the group). If that is not blown, turn the key on and pound hard on the bottom of the fuel tank. The fuel lubricates the fuel pump, once it runs dry, the pump can lock up. Once the pump is immersed in fuel again, a sharp jolt will unstick it and let it pump up to pressure again. If it locks up for too long, the pump will burn out and need replaced.

We found this out by accident, got mad and pounded on the bottom of the tank and the pump jumped to life.

i have the same problem i took panel off of passnger side and hear clicking noise too my dad seems to think the motor is locked

TPS throttle position sensor needs cleaning or replacment. or if you run the tank low on fuel you might be needing to replace fuel pump and filter.

Pop the panel open.Check those Fuel pump Relay fuses under the hood by the front left tire.Replace the little 4 prong fuse.Mine started up after changed them.
