Hi, I have a 2001 chrysler town and country. when heater is on it will roar and I have to put it in neutral and restart. sometimes it roars without heater on and I have to turn it on to stop the noise. it sounds really terrible. worried it might be very serious
Your cars engine "roars" or the fan motor "roars"? If its the engine, does your car have tachometer and what are the rpms?
Testimonial: "I'm not very sure. it is very loud and I can feel it in the accelerator as well. sometimes it causes the rpms to jump but then it evens back out. if I press the accelerator the roaring is louder. it reminds me of when you press on it when a vehicle is neutral. sometimes the rpms go up as well with this."
What roars, the cab fan.
inside roar
outside,
surely you can find that. then post where.

Try replacing the front end wheel baring(s) If it is a roar that you can hear resonating from the windows, this is most likely it.
SOURCE: radiator fan relay,2001 chrysler town country
the relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood the relay will be a square black or gray cube just pull out and make sure you rerplace it with the same type relay. refer to your owners manual for any questions regarding the fuses and relays

it could possably be the motors for the windows are bad
SOURCE: Loud roaring noise in front, steering wheel has vibration, replaced tires didn't help.
Wheel bearings are likly and I've changed many to solve this problem but it's esy to pick the wrong one with e vehical jacked and on jack stands suporting the car by the lower control arms ( normal ride hieght) run the car with a driver and listen to ti run , of course theres no load on the powertrain so there will be some lash ( power on to power decline ) cheack up. The roaring noise can be isolated by puting a sounding bar ( long metal rod ( sr=crew driver)) other against the part till the sound is rounded up rear but possible the carrier bearings in the (rear end) front drive. The axel bearings and on some units the carrier bearing thats in the CV axel on the block. Sounding rod will find and change the noisey part. Professional help is a good idea if you can't carry this out saftly

That's the fan clutch for the radiator fan. It has a thick fluid in it and in this cold weather it is ispecially thick. This makes the fan turn almost at engines speed and that makes the roaring noise. After it has been spinning a while, the fluid gets warm and gets thinner. that makes the fan turn slower than the engine. This is normal and needs no attention.

im not certain what is roaring. you can feel it in the accelerator and the rpms do jump but then even back out and it does it every time the accelerator is pressed, while roaring is occurring. the roaring sounds like when you press the accelerator when the engine is in neutral or park.
