This can be several things. Loose rod bearings, valve lifters, piston pin play, etc.

Two things you can try. Rislone and then an oil change. Then synthetic oil in the proper weight for your engine.

The synthetic oil flows better and if you have oil related problems it should help.

But if you have mechanical problems, it will not fix them.

I believe you have a 10 year/100,000mile warranty.for that engine. Consult Hyundai about the current problems.

Rattleting noise seems to be the crankcase rear chain V6.Cyl 4.0 ford exp XLT 2002

Make sure the oil level is good. The hydraulic tensioners for the chain work with the engine's oil. If low it will make a rattling/knocking like noise.

2009 Ford Flex when started first thing on a cold morning it ticks/knocs really really loud, once it warms up the ticking goes away to a very light tick. The dealership ruled out an exhaust manifold leak....

It does sound like a valve lifter problem to me also. It should be covered under warranty. It's a mechanical failure of a component of the drivetrain. Ask them to show you the specific exclusion if they say it's not a warranty problem.Powertrain warranty is 60 months/60,000 miles ( which ever comes first).

Light knocking at the first start each morning

sounds like a high mileage motor. worn lifters that take a few minutes to pump up. Might add a quart of marvel mystery oil. To improve cold start upper cylinder lubrication.

'96 VW Golf GL with 2.0 motor. Cold start knock

It sounds like the hydraulic lifters are bleeding down after sitting for a while... there are ball checks which are supposed to prevent this... Try using a good engine flush (a product that frees sticky lifters) and replace the oil with a good synthetic... Hope this helps...;-)

2004 Cadillac Escalade knocking noise

Make sure oil level is adequate.

Also, this could be an exhaust leak that is being closed as the manifold and/or block heats up.

Engine knock

The idle issue is normal. The idle is controlled by the ECU. There are no adjustments for the idle. Regarding the knocking noise, that could be several things, and I am hesitant to comment without hearing it. Take it to a Toyota Dealer & have a tech listen to it. We are very good at identifying noises on the service drive.

Lifter noise

This is a very common issue with General Motors. I have never bothered to try and fix it because it is not causing any harm. It is because General Motors still uses a push rod motor and the cold oil causes it to knock a little until the oil gets warmed up.
