MY 1998 Gmc Jimmy will not start the security need to be bypassed how do i do it
Hi: Sounds to me like you tried to start the vehicle with something disconnected in the security system. If this is the case the solution is simple. Put key in ignition and turn to the on position, leave on for EXACTLY 30 minutes... then take key out, wait 5 minutes then start vehicle. Hope this helps... please rate suggestion... ty
I experienced this problem, intermittant failure to start. This procedure must be done with the truck RUNNING.
Remove the cover off of your ignition switch. On the top there is a small wire connector that, once the truck is running, should be disconnected. This will turn on the 'SECURITY' light. All will be better, except the security light will be on at all times, much cheaper than replacing the ignition switch, however.
There are several methods of bypassing the security system. Find one that works for you. In the meantime when this happens. leave the key in the on position until the security light goes out. It will blink on and off for about 10 or 15 min then stay on solid for a few seconds then go out. turn the key off and count to 5 and start the engine. This may have to be done 3 times to work depending on how spent your system is...

turn the key, lots of power everywhere, but will not turn over, tried a new starter for nothing. Is it a security problem?
