My 2001 toyota four runner 3.4l cuts off at idle,why?

It doesn't have one-its the circuit opening relay that powers it. Also the airflow meter is responsible of grounding the COR if it doesn't the fuel pump won't be powered up. Looks like its a fuel cut switch for a carburetor-never seen it on a FI Toy truck with a fuel cutoff switch but a Carb-perhaps I'm wrong

Also it don't have a fuel pump relay

Jumper the DLC ( batt to Fp ) and see what happens-attempt to start vehicle and also try this block open the airflow meter vane flap and try again

check idle control valve or actuator it raises the engine revs to help it deal with the extra load on the engine when drive is selected

Before you start messing with idle screw check for vacuum leaks and fresh air intake hoses, remember MAF sensor is close to air filter so inspect those hoses with a light to found any rips.

spark plugs injector cleaner have u been runing with low fuel pump may be on it way try fuel injector cleaner & fill tank 90 plus octane

check with timming light to c if jumped timming,it needs to be at least 1000rpms to run right

That sounds like an air leak in the intake manifold area. If there is no hose off,it could be a intake manifold gasket problem

More than likely the low idle you are experiencing is caused by a dirty IAC valve located right under the throttle body itself. It needs to be cleaned out with carb cleaner. Remove the electrical connector, the two vacuum hoses, and two screws. To put it back, use a little sealant to seal it before screwing it back together but do not get the sealant inside the IAC valve. If this 4 Runner is a V6, you may need to replace the spark plugs if old. Make sure to purchase twin electrode NGK or Denso spark plugs and gap them to .043 with a gapper.

you are better off using a unit from an 1984 instead that will match up to your wiring
