Technical DescriptionMass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
What does that mean?Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. A more technical description would be that the MAF circuit had lower than expected voltage (air flow). Other MAF sensor circuit DTC trouble codes are P0100, P0101, P0103, and P0104.

SymptomsYou will likely not notice any serious drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a general decrease in power or sluggishness.
CausesA code P0102 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad
  • The MAF may be dirty or otherwise contaminated (Note: if you use a reusable oiled air filter, be careful not to apply too much oil or that can contaminate the MAF).
  • The MAF sensor may be faulty
  • The vehicle computer may be faulty (very rare)

Got this code p0102 and my 98 continental is having a powertrain issue because of a low circuits input, where might I find the trouble at ?

Hi Russell,

Sorry to hear of your troubles, hopefully the provided link can help you troubleshoot your particular issue. https://www.obd-codes.com/p0102

MAF sensor issues can have a multitude of causes, start with the easiest first (intake air leak) and work through each until resolved.

Good luck!

My car cranks but won't start a P0102 code came up for the mass air flow sensor I replaced it and now it still just cranks with the code coming up still can this cause it not start?

Replace the CKP (Crankshaft Position) Sensor. Your car cannot tell that you are trying to start it, because it does not see RPM's from CKP sensor. Common problem.

Error codes P0507 and P0102 after replacing MAF sensor

P0102: you need to make sure the sensor is clean; sometimes it get dirty as you are working on an old car. Check the voltage manually. Make sure there is no air leak near it

P0507: high idle... this sounds like a vacuum leak. get starter fluid and start the car. Spray around and check for change in car idle

If a MAF sensor is installed backwards and driven can it kill the sensor

Wow, that's a good one. I can't help but comment! There has to be some basic tests you could run on it, I would think- not like some of them replace with a known good unit and try again things like computers. Oh yeah, I see Dennis Weid's 2008 post now, darn genius, lol.. Well, tell me, did it kill the sensor?
