SOURCE: 89 oldsmobile 98 won't start

If you suspect its a fuel problem best to do a fuel pressure test, you can rent a tester at auto zone and do it yourself. They also can show you how to use it and what pressure it should be. Also if you turn the key to on position you should hear a hum from the gas tank and then a click that is the pump running and the click is the relay, if you don't then the pump isent running, also chk. the fuse and relay, it could be as simple as a blowen fuse or a bad relay.

My 1991 oldsmobile 98 regency elite will turn over but its not getting spark and ive changed the plugs and wires the ignition coils, the cam and crank sensor but still no spark what else could it be?

Could be the security system locking out the injectors. Is the security light on? If you have an extra key try using the other one. Sometimes the pellets wear out.

I have a 1996 98 regency oldsmobile and it cut off then it started right up what could it be

Possible faulty crank sensor or idle speed controller, fuel pump relay, or ignition module. Get a data scan and see what's sensor might out of range or defective. Check for clogged fuel filter also.

I have a oldmobile 95 98, it runs for awhile then it will stop anywhere. After it sit for awhile it usually will start back up but sometimes i have to get a jump off. Sometimes before it go dead a pooping...

Three area that are of concern and who goes out first, cam sensor, cranksensor, ICM. To begine with you are a OBD 1, so you can check codes without a scanner you will just jump the DLC and read the flashing light. The cam sensor is the most popular intermittent failure it is located on the lower right side of the engine, above crank pulley, the code it gives is 41,(four long flashes, one short flash),The next is the crank sensor,This is in front above thhe crank pulley, when this sensor goes out,it stop just anywhere, just like the cam sensor,This wont give a code, the only way you will know if this is not operational is when it stall take one sparkplug wire out leave a a 1/4 air gap between wire and coil crank and inspect for spark.if there is no spark, then you narrowed it down to crank and the ICM.The ICM you need a voltmeter or labscope to troubleshoot it. Now if it was the ICM your battery would be dead long time ago,I am going to say do the most populat failure of them all go with the cam sensor. plus you said its *******.

I have an oldsmobile 94 98...i can be driving and all of a sudden it just shut down then i put it back in park and it fires right back up and drive off. i change the throttle postion sensor 5 months ago...

Your symptons sound very similar to a security failure. The year vehicle is also notorious for this system failing. Do you notice a light on the dash that says SECURITY when this happens? If so, check out this link. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My 1994 oldsmobile 98 regency won't start

Check fuel pressure, spark. If no spark possible crank sensor or ignition module. If no fuel pressure tap the bottom of the fuel tank with a mallet while someone is cranking the vehicle if it starts then you will need a fuel pump. Also if you have spark and fuel but the engine feels like it bucking while turning over, take a hair dryer and heat the coils up.you may have a bad coil pack. After they get warmed it night then start as the coil resistance changes.

I have a 91 olds Ninety eight regency elite Intermittently dies code 41 comes up cam sensor circut replaced cam sensor still dies could it be the crank sensor? thank you Michael Dale

cam sensor is only half of the cam circuit, the other half of the cam circuit is the magnet on the timing chain. the cam sensor reads from the magnet every time the engine completes a revolution,
what happens is the magnet on the chain will break into smaller piece which makes the sensor harder to read every time the engine make a complete revolution.
most likely you'll need to replace the timing chain to fix this.
