Yes, it is very possible for the Mass Air Flow sensor (aka MAF) to cause a misfire. You need to replace the MAF if it's causing a misfire. More detail please if this doesn't answer your question

Sometimes the clutch pedal does not return, or sticks down, on my 1997 BMW Z3

You have air in the clutch system. Check the fluid level in the reservoir . Check for oil leaks at the slave cylinder ( replace if there is oil ) Have the system bled . IF you have fluid and the air comes back then replace the clutch master cylinder as the air will be bypassing the piston cup from blockages in the ports.

BMW z3 1998 1.9 liter engine cylinder head replacement

This is almost as expensive as installing a used engine, around $5,000.00 to $6,000.00 the last time I checked with BMW.

How to set timing on 97 bmw z3 4 cylinder

this requires removal of valve cover, then you need to aquire timing blocks possibly from aftermarket part store to lock the cams in place so that the first lobe on intake and exhausr cam point towards each other, you must then remove the cahin tensioner and then inspect the timing mark on the block and crank pully which has allowed room for possible adjustments, without timing blocks this is very difficult to do

WHAT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NEEDED FOR 2000 BMW Z3 6 CYLINDER

On the manual the fluid is "lifetime" BMW MTF LT-1, SOME models used ATF. There is a plate on the side of the transmission that will give what your particular model was filled with.

On the automatic the fluid type should be printed on the "type plate" on the side of the transmission

both are usually Dexronn III ATF, but please check your plate!!!

I have a Z3 convertable. It has a steptronic transmission. Recently when I try to put in into the S or M mode, it will not show on the display and does not seem to convert to the other gears. It feels like...

Hi this could either be the clutch not engaging or the torque converter not converting the rpms to power.

Firstly check the fluid levels on the gearbox, the light on the dash should work regardless unless the torque converter is not working correctly.

Lastly check the slave cylinder look for any damp areas around the top of the gearbox, they sometimes leak but not enough to drip to the floor. If the slave is not working then most likely would cause this fault.

Torque converters are quite expensive around £500-£900 although some are cheaper thats just a round about figure.

After the fluid is corrected they also need to be bled through to get any air out of the system, again this could cause the issue you have.

Hope this helps

1998 BMW Z3 1.9 Cylinder misfire codes. Rough on cold wet starts

Spark plug wires may be the cause. for cold damp start issues water is a conducter and will send spark directly to an engine ground not through spark plugs. also look for oil in spark plug wells this can also cause a misfire under certain conditions.
