Comparing a Skoda Kodiaq with an Audi Q7 is like comparing Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 80 lakhs (literally). Audi is the ultimate brand in the luxury segment while Skoda is the low-cost brand of Volkswagen.
Here are some points why Audi Q7 is better than Skoda:-

2)The Audi Q7 has an advanced AWD which, I am sure, you will love. The Kodiaq will have AWD only on the top spec model.
3)Audi has high-tech features including a 23 speaker audio system. You will miss that in the Skoda.
4)The Audi Q7 has 8 air bags and is equipped with almost all the safety features. The Skoda has a few of them only.
5)The Audi Q7 is better in terms of design, any day.
But then, there is one more fact that you have to mention if you are comparing a Skoda Kodiaq and an Audi Q7. The difference in price between the two is humongous, almost half a crore for the entry level variants. So if you can afford an Audi, look no further, the Skoda Kodiaq does not stand a chance here.

An 09 plate Q7 should still be in warrenty as Audi offer a three year warrenty with a limit of 60,000 miles. If your vehicle is out of warrenty Audi are also known very well for good will providing the vehicle has been serviced at an Audi dealership. Try replacing the battery in the key as this may have an effect

I think that it wouldn't be a good idea to use en electric arc welder as the current generated by the welding poles could damage small integrated components. May be you sould try drilling them out instead.
