I have an 01 Mustang v6 automatic with about 125k mileage. About 3 days ago I started experiencing a very hard chugging even though I have a full tank of gas and engine oil and coolant have just been added. It starts fine but when I get it up too about 45mhp and 2000rpms it starts to chug. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Fuel or spark issues can cause this . Transmission lockup clutch can make a chugging sensation . When in overdrive lightly touch the brake while keeping a steady throttle and see if the chugging stops . Post back .

SOURCE: Chugs, acts like it's not getting gas once warmed up. Idle's fine

This problem can be several things. When your engine is cold, your computer is in a "closed loop" and just pretty much keeps the engine running until warmed up. After reaching operation temperature, the computer starts reading all the sensors. If one sensor is not connected or is defective, you will experience performance problems. Most of the time this will turn on the check engine light, but not always. Second is the fuel pump. This too will cause erratic engine problems.

Sorry old son but your clutch sounds like it has gone to the big junk yard in the sky reserved for dead clutches . When a clutch starts to slip it will continue to do so until that is all it will do . solution a new clutch is required .

My 1994 ford mustang blew a head gasket. I am having a hard time finding a 3.8 liter v6 engine. Is there another size engine that can be interchanged?

Well, it also came with a V-8. One of those would probably be a lot cheaper. There shouldn't be a lot of extra work in making the change over, and as long as you don't go all crazy you can still get decent mileage from them.

first thing to check is the tansmission fluid level. if its low. top it off and see if it works ok, if so, then find and repair the leak. If its full, you need the transmission checked ASAP.
