2001 Ford Focus - Car overheated. Prior to overheating I had a new fan and relay installed. Both fans worked fine. After car overheated, I replaced the thermostat. Now neither fan will kick in. Help!!!!
The fans won't kick on then you need to replace the coolant temp sensor this runs your fans.
The cooling fan sensor is located underneath your alternator. It looks like a sparkplug with a wire coming out of it. the sensor is not very expensive but hard to replace. I had to disconnect the motor mount, lift and push the motor toward the radiator about 2" Then I removed the alternator. I purchased a set of box wrenches to get the size I needed since I could not find that one box wrench separately. then I cut a small piece off the box wrench so i could insert it over the wire and onto the cooling sensor. it turned the sensor counterclock wise an inch at a time and reset the box wrench and repeated til the sensor was off. I then install the new sensor, alternator and pushed the motor back in to place and bolt it back to the motor mount.

My car is a 2005 Focus, we were washing the car last night and rinsed the radiator of bugs. After, the fans would not kick on. We have cleaned all the contacts and checked the fuse. How do you check a relay? Is there anything else that might have gone wrong to make the fans not work?
fan works just not kicking in when needed is there any way to bypass and run of the battery if so any pic so i can do myself
