My a6 2.5tdi multitronic auto box not working properly. Won't go into tiptronic mode, all gear selections lit up, won't change from 1st to 2nd until 2900 rpm and won't go into 5th. Also, after stopping at a junction it (80% of the time)seems to jump into 1st. 2nd to 3rd to 4th gears ok as is kickdown. It is a 2000 model.
You need to give the car a scan, preferably with VCDS (or VAS at a dealer). If limp mode is activating (lit up gear selections), then it will be storing codes.
The fact that it works to a degree could be good news, the gear box has likely not failed. Could be the F125 selector switch, which is a common fail at this age.

I have been having similar problems. The clutch is slipping as thats how you get the variable gears when in full auto, but this is where the problem comes from, some garages (auto gearbox specialists) are now able to fix it. Do not go to Audi as all they do is replace the gearbox (very expensive). There is no quick fix though! Sorry for the bad news!!

you may have a faulty tcm (transmission control module)

dont think you are reading the codes right because PO in front of the code is not a genuine Audi code ,well not according to my information ,try autozone who issue these codes or a snap on code reader booklet

It is imperative you use the correct fluid in your Audi tiptronic transmission. Look in your owners manual for the correct fluid. If you do not have an owners manual call your local Audi dealer or better yet drive to one and purchase Audi Pentosin A/T fluid from the dealer. Do not use Dexron III as it is not designed for the Triptonic transmission. A transmission is very expensive to replace so do not take any chances and just buy your fluid from your Audi dealer even though you may pay a little more. That way you are 100% sure you are using the correct fluid.
