Crankshaft Pulley wobbles on 1997 ford aspire

make sure the pulley bolt is tight then check the pulley for being bent. if these 2 things are good then you may have a bent crankshaft at the pulley end or worn crank bearing causing it to wobble.

Loud rattling sound top of engine near or below the alternator when idling, goes away if accelerator is pressed

Hello: Remove the serpentine belt, see if the waterpump pulley wobbles/makes noise when you spin it. If thats not it then start the engine, belt still off see if noise is there also while engine is running see if vthe crankshaft pulley wobbles. Also check the A/C compressor pulley (engine off, belt off) spin it by hand and check for noise and wobble. If all the previous is ok then it could be the balance shaft front bearing and or the timing chain.

Was the timing belt replaced recently? If your crank pulley/harmonic balancer is wobbling, it is probably loose. Do not run the engine, if this part falls out, it will cause more damage.

Check all of the accessories that run off the belt. some may have loose or bent pulleys or the acessory itself may have come loose. Be careful to route the belt exactly as shown too. Tighten up or replace your wobbly pulleys.
