Hello to anyone that can help. I am having trouble getting a 91 Honda Civic LX to start when it is hot or when it is hot outside. mechanics tell me it is the main relay plug which is located under the dash.has 6 to 8 prongs. I have taken out every plug possible and still can't locate it. does anyone have a picture or advice on how to locate it.
Re: Hello to anyone that can help. I am having trouble...
It is located on driver side left of fusebox on my 91 civic hatchback. You have to look, its not under the dash but under the side portion where the air vent for heat & air cond. is. Held on by metal bracket that is attached to the relay. you may have to stand on your head to see it or remove your lower dash panel portion to get to it. probably have to pull bolt out of bracket first to access the relay. It took me a bit to find mine but thats where it was.

3 things make an engine start : compression wich is lost slowly and seems not the case here , fuel : take off the air filter and tube leading to the intake manifold , insert 2 table spoons of fuel and with nobody face near it start the engine , if it start and died , the problem his fuel pump , fuel pump fuse , injectors or the computer circuit and finaly spark , test the sparkplugs and coils .

check your wiring for dirty connections or broken wires, you may have wires that are rubbed through or connectors that are not making full contact. you will need an ohm meter and check wires for continuity. a wiring diagram will be needed.
