Fault codes Hi there, I have just bought myself a jag and a fault code reader. It is displaying fault P01B2 unidentified code. Do you know what this code means? Should I be worried? Many thanks Leon

take it to an accredited auto transmission specialist shop and have the fault codes read then have a proper diagnosis done
The first saves money and the second confirms the codes revealed

Nice I'd love a 2204 model, :-) anyway C1055 as a generic ODBII code is an internal ECU Fault, however it is not listed in my records for the X-Type nor for that matter as a Ford Mondeo DTC. All I can tell you for certain is that the 'C' indicates a chassis fault, It may be something associated with the OBDII reader you have or a code added in for the 04 model (I don't have dtc info for this). It's is worth double checking anyway, You can do this from the dash using the X-types 'hidden' display visit http://www.bluejag.co.uk on how to locate this. sorry I can't be of more help than this.

When some error codes are displayed the computer puts the car into limp mode - this restricts the speed of the car so you can get home or to a repair shop - you should not drive it now until the problem is solved to avoid any further damage.
You may just have a faulty camshaft position sensor on one bank or maybe the timing belt may have jumped a cog and require replacement.
Code readers are very reliable - the code readers only displays the fault information that is sent from the computer - this tells the mechanic the exact fault or gives them a good starting point to diagnose the problem.
Sometimes resetting the fault codes in the computer with the code reader will fix the problem (it may have just been an incorrect fault indication) - if not - it will default again which confirms the fault and you will need to fix the problem.

would to have a play sorry but my first thought is the throttle pedal sensors .But as its a diesel your code reader is about as obsolete as a Model T you have to just know how a diesel works to get the feel for it then you will have a good idea whats wrong .

I think you can buy a code reader from most any parts store for $40-60 and use it to find and reset the codes in your Jag. Good luck!

ASC is short for "automatic stability control" u will need to have the ABS/Traction control system tested by the dealer for a possiable fault code.

Seems likely it is just a transmission cable adjustment needed. Please see my whole note (not a musical whole note) above under Clarification...
