It can take a while for the propane to get to the stove. ( 20 seconds maybe ) All the air has to bleed out of the line first. Also , if you have 2 tanks , there could be a selector switch on the regulator where the 2 tank hoses come in , that has to be selected to the tank that you have opened the valve on.

SOURCE: I have an 85 Ford

You should be able to hear the pump in the tank running. If you don't check the fuel pump relay. If you hear the pump running then the line/filter could be plugged. The white relay is the tank selector relay, the green relay is the fuel pump relay. If the green relay is bad you will have a bad time getting the replacement. The new relays from the dealer and parts stores are all 5 pin. The green relay is a 4 pin.

Also your genset probably has a pump that pulls from that tank on its own.

Turned on propane at tank get no gas at stove is there a another shut off valve

Gas could take 10 - 20 seconds to get to the stove. Air has to bleed out of line. Also if you have dual tanks , there could be a switch on the regulator to select which tank you want to use.

My 1998 land rover discovery gas gauge meter keeps saying its empty and would not take gas

You either have a bad sending unit in your gas tank, a bad guage, or bad wiring from the sending unit to the guage.

Wondering about the dual gas tank. Can I switch over from one tank to the next while I'm driving, or do I need to be stopped? Does it matter if I push the switch with it running, or with it turned off? ...

Yes, I would however suggest that you try this while sitting still first to make sure the control valve is still working. If it seems to work while sitting still then you can change between tanks anytime. The switch is only operational when the key is on and controls a valve body that changes from tank to tank. So as long as the valve is working and you have fuel or gas in both tanks you just fine.

Does my ford motorhome have a gas shutoff switch 1991 ford sprinter v-8 7.5 liter

Most pickup based motorhomes have 2 fuel tanks, you may have a tank selector valve that is electric or vacuum operated. Check underneath and follow the fuel lines from the tank to the front of the engine, somewhere in between you may find that the fuel hose goes to a valve that is used to switch between the 2 tanks ie: main fuel tank and auxillary fuel tank.

Ford never did, in 100 years, learn how to make a gas tank. I have an 05 Mustang that does the same thing. What I do, is turn the nozzle completely upside down in the filler cap, and it works fine. You may have to experiment a little, pull it out a bit or what ever, but the handle up works for most.

1998 land rover discovery. Fuel pump recently replaced, but now pump does not shut off after 5 sec when it should when engine is started. any suggestions?

The fuel pump must run constantly while the engine is running. There is a return for excess fuel back to the tank.
