E class w211 head light washer started on it own emptied the tank and kept running till it stopped and will not run again

guessing fuel intake is obstructed. it starts and runs but once the bowl become empty shuts down. could be filter, could be a hole in the hose allowing some air intake, could be debris in the tank or the carb bowl moves and plugs, could be carb port blockage. try some seafoam cleaner pour in start and run till stops let sit to soak and try again. this stuff seems to break up stuff and clean pretty well.

You have to find the reason the check engine light is on. This will aid in diagnostics. Also, are you buying fuel at the same place both times?

There should be two pump motors on the tank one for the windshield and the other for the lights. You can change the connectors to see if the pump is still good or not. You can also see if the washer power is still stuck on. Just disconnect from the pump if it goes on and stays on. As long as you don't leave it on and run it dry then it wont hurt it. If it is still on then you need to go to a service tech and get them to trace it down. It ma be a fault in the AAM which I think controls the wipers on that model. If it was jsut the pump you can easily replace that for about $45. There are several online parts places that sell oem parts for a fraction of the dealer/stealers.

The fuel filter is part of the fuel sending units inside the fuel tank. There is no external fuel filter on the W211. The fuel sending units are located under the rear seat cushion behind the access panels.

Don't let the car run out of gas. Fill the tank and run until the tank is half empty. Again fill the tank.
By driving until you run out of gas, you are letting sediments/dirt collected in the bottom of the tank to enter the engine. Rather they will block the fuel filter. Then gas will not reach the engine.
Clean the gas filter and your car will run fine.
The same advice again. Don't drive until the tank becomes empty.

It may also have been low enough on coolant that one filling wasn't enough. If it is leaking you should see a wet spot or puddle under the car. Also check inside the car to see if the floormats are wet to see if maybe the heater is the source of the leak. Coolant will be sticky to the hand.
Fill the bottle again and run the engine to let it warm up to operating temp. Turn the heater on to its highest settings and the fan as well. Watch the exhaust for signs of white smoke, that is a sign of coolant being burnt off in the engine and that would be a leaking head gasket.Also keep an eye on what is going on in the water tank. If the tank empties out shortly after you start the car, refill it until it stops doing this. That is a sign there was not enough coolant in the engine.
When the engine gets hot you will see likely see bubbling in the tank and probably see thecoolant level drop. DON"T open it now. The coolant is the same temperature as boiling water. Shut the car off and let it sit for 15 minutes or so and slowly unscrew the cap. You will probably get a hissing sound at some point with some bubbling. Stop turning the cap until that stops. Then you can remove the cap and add coolant. You may have to repeat this step more than once but a cuople of times should have the system back to near normal.
Keep an eye on your temperature and water tank for a few days. If the car continues to give you heating problems or using coolant it will need to be looked at to find out the cause. Hope this helps.

Have you had your fuel tank flushed there may be small piece of grit that is clogging the fuel pump, after sitting over night, The pressure now released comes loose only to reappear later, If this is happening more as tank near empty This is most likely the problem Had a similar issue with my 89' 300TE and she's still going strong after 360,000 miles

This is the sensor in your fuel tank, they have little brushes on them that run on a reostat. it is a common problem, I have been able to remove them and fix them, although the best option is replacement.

I wanted to just give a suggestion...do you go to the same gas station to get gas? My sentra ran horrible because I kept going to this same gas station. My gas would get low and it would start cutting off and trying to cut off. I let my fuel go to almost empty and then went to another gas station to fill up. It hasnt cut of for about 6 months now and I havent returned to that gas station.
